With operations in 10 countries over 5 continents Glencore Zinc comprises 32 Zinc and Lead mines, 17 concentrators sand 12 smelters and employs over 52.000 people. The main objectives of the head of environment are leading environmental management in order to develop the strategies and programs to: (1) reduce risks and liabilities associated to tailings management; (2) ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards; (3) address climate change risks and adaptation strategies; (4) ensure integration of mine closure into life cycle planning of the operations.Specific responsibilities include:Setting requirements, defining the strategy, and ensuring compliance/targets, regarding the environment management system.Managing risks and compliance around Tailings & Hydroelectric Dams – through detailed knowledge of the plans, maintenance, functioning of each asset TSF and Hydroelectric dam to ensure all assets are being managed to best practice and Corporate/International standards. Environmental Assurance Initiatives –plan, schedule and coordinate assurance processes regarding the environment; ensuring action plans are realistic and utilizes other site practices to bring up to standard quickly. Work with sites to ensure correct actions are in place prior to verification audits. Develop and implement audit tools and guidelines to ensure the verification of Environmental initiatives.Environmental Coaching and professional development - Have regular contact with General Managers & Senior Managers for coaching on Environmental initiatives and system.- Develop, coordinate, and promote environmental learning to site Environment Leads and establish network for sharing.

Lead corporate environmental affairs by developing and implementing strategies and programs to: (1) address complex environmental laws and regulations to achieve and maintain compliance; (2) lead the Company to attain a position of leadership in environmental affairs by anticipating future trends and ensuring that management systems are in place to deal with those trends; and (3) assess and minimize the liability associated with ESG (environmental, social and governance related) risks and the legal exposure of failing to comply with environmental laws. Specific responsibilities include: • Develop, monitor and assess divisional environmental metrics. Present metrics with an assessment of plant environmental performance with actions to drive improvement in performance.• Embed ESG (environmental, social and governance) related risks into corporate risk management and decision making.• Establish/maintain an environmental management system driving the Corporation to a leadership position and continually improve performance. Provide or facilitate and manage site audits. Drive integration of objectives into the business planning and management process.• Provide environmental and legal audits of plants to assess compliance with laws, regulations and company standards, ensuring that the action plans that are developed as a result of the audits are implemented in a timely and sustainable manner.• Assess environmental issues associated with projects and investments which entails identifying and defining potential environmental liabilities, estimating associated costs, and making recommendations as to how such issues should be handled, and then directing the implementation of the recommendations.• Participate in industry association environmental committees to effect fair and equitable legislation and regulations.• Provide guidance to operation sites on permit and regulatory requirements.• Represent the company in regulatory matters.

Manage risk and lead corporate sustainability strategy, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of a environmental management system for the Corporation. Provide the leadership and expertise to obtain division-wide excellence in environmental affairs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Responsibilities include: • Develop short and long range plans to improve the effectiveness of systems and processes while ensuring compliance, ensuring robust, timely data collection, monitoring, and analysis for any and all reportable metrics.• Responsible for ensuring compliance with local, regulations and support third party standards including environmental management systems. • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive management systems in support of the Sustainable Development Policy and Code of Conduct.• Government and industry association liaison.

Assess the Corporation in the formulation and implementation of the sustainability strategy, contributing to increase the efficiency, profit value, and competitiveness of the operations.

• Lead ISO14.001 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18.001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Implementation. • Development and implementation of environmental projects (waste minimization, resource conservation, etc.), over USD 500,000 saved annually. • Development and implementation of company’s emergency response plan. • Management of community and regulator authorities relations, including permitting and directing community outreach programs. • Management of internal natural protection areas (65 hectare wetland and 150 hectare of forests within the facilities). • Personnel training (+ 600 employees).

Sales and marketing coordination with Latin America and the United States offices, project development and follow-up. • Project management (over 30 million USD in achieved/developed projects) • Organization of “Partnership in Global Learning (PGL) Training Monterrey 2002” Workshop.
