Paul A. Manoguerra is the director/curator of the Jundt Art Museum at Gonzaga University. At the Jundt Art Museum, he manages and oversees the university’s academic art museum including museum operations, exhibitions, educational programming, collection preservation and research, and outreach programs; coordinates fundraising to ensure support for all programs; acts as curator for the collection and all museum exhibitions; cultivates donors and collectors; manages museum and endowment budgets; represents the museum via community outreach and lectures; supervises curator of education, museum registrar/program coordinator, art handler/preparator, work-study students, and student interns; teaches courses.Formerly, Manoguerra served as chief curator and curator of American art at the Georgia Museum of Art, University of Georgia, for eleven years.His exhibition and book projects have won the 2015 Award of Publication Excellence from the Washington Museum Association, 2011 Book of the Year Finalist in Art by "ForeWard Reviews," the "Special Projects" award from the Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries, a bronze medal in the fine arts category 2008 Independent Publisher Book Awards, the 2008 and 2005 Awards of Excellence for exhibitions from the Southeastern Museums Conference, and the Mary Ellen LoPresti Art Publication Award of the Southeast Chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America. Manoguerra has taught at several institutions, including Gonzaga University, the University of Georgia, Kalamazoo College, Lansing Community College, Michigan State University, and Western Michigan University.Specialties: Arts of the American colonies and the United States from the 18th through the 21st centuries; museum studies, the theory and philosophy of museum practice, curatorial methods, and museum management; American cultural and social history; material culture; and interdisciplinary approaches to art education and appreciation.
