I spent the summer of 2021 interning at KGW News as part of the Emerging Northwest Journalist Internship sponsored by the AAJA Portland chapter. As an intern, I pitched stories to the Managing Editor and produced them for live air. During my first month, I reported on the shortage of high school officials in Oregon. • Coordinating and maintaining the quality of all on-air programming for Southern California’s award-winning 24-hour local news and traffic AM radio station.
• Facilitate communication between news editors and field reporters while also setting up and sound checking live shots at the top and bottom of every hour
• Editing pre-recorded digital audio and newscast feeds from various networks in preparation for live air
• Capture audio from CBS Radio Network feeds on breaking stories and news conferences on a timely basis

• Directed the editorial staff before and during weekly production nights, to ensure deadlines were met.
