In March 2020 Digital Applications International (DAI) was acquired by one of their long-term partners Dematic and Dematic Software was born.• Managerial head and technical lead of a team of senior engineers designing, implementing and maintaining managed infrastructure, that supports the software developed for the company’s Blue Chip customer base.• Designing and leading the development of solutions, ensuring they are delivered effectively, working alongside customer teams to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and are seamlessly implemented, utilising onsite infrastructure at the customers chosen location or providing hosting with the developed software in a SaaS model.• Consulting with customers on specific bespoke solutions, helping them see the possibilities for efficiency and effectiveness when using modern infrastructure technologies. • Provided consultancy, design and implementation services for the customer base of Glasshouse.Achievements:• Consulted on large storage optimization project for a large UK retail bank; the project was to consolidate eight HDS USP arrays on to six existing HDS USP-V storage arrays and implement two new HDS VSP storage arrays. Providing consultancy to the project during the discovery and design phases. The purpose of the project was to reduce annual maintenance costs for storage.• Providing implementation consultancy on a project for a large Investment Bank working on behalf of the hardware manufacturer implementing a new infrastructure platform to support their real-time automated trading software. The solution included Brocade DCX and 5300 storage switches and HP P9500 storage.

• Team leader for a team of customer solution architects supporting the UK customer base of Fujitsu in a consultancy role, providing high level and low-level design documentation, technical specification, bill of materials and pricing services.Achievements:• Successfully architected and implemented services for the Regulator of all providers of financial services in the UK, for a project utilising Solaris Clustered Zones. Designed and implemented nine Solaris Cluster environments, each providing highly available Solaris 10 Zones, these clusters were implemented on M5000, T5440 and T5120 servers.• Provided datacentre migration documentation for the UK’s largest independent producer of official statistics, utilizing IBM AIX 5.3 LPAR’s and VIO 1.3.

• Technical Team Lead for a team of engineers responsible for supporting the entire server and storage infrastructure at Screwfix. This included more than 140 Physical Unix servers (300+ virtualized) and approximately 100 Windows based servers. It was my responsibility to assist in the design and implementation of hardware and software solutions at Screwfix in conjunction with Screwfix suppliers.The role included the man management of a geographically dispersed team of Technical Support Analysts.Achievements:• Designed and implemented a Unix Server consolidation project to reduce hardware maintenance costs.• Designed and implemented infrastructure to support the migration of 1800 user mailboxes to a multi- site replicated Exchange 2007 platform.• Designed and implemented the back-end infrastructure to support the use of Sun Ray thin Clients in a 350 Seat contact centre. This project was nominated for “Environmental Project of the Year” at the 2009 BCS UK IT Industry Awards.• Design and implement infrastructure to provide a second datacentre to support the internal operations of Screwfix.• Infrastructure lead in the design and implementation of a new Distribution Centre to support the Stock Replenishment of the Screwfix Trade Counter's.• Infrastructure delivery lead for migrating the then primary database (Sybase) from Wintel onto Solaris running on an E25K’s.

Based at National Grid Transco in Leicestershire responsible for the support of all Sun Microsystems Hardware and Software onsite up to Sun Fire SF15k, which included problem diagnosis and resolution on all Sun related software and hardware. This role included the support of SE9980 Storage Arrays and Brocade Director 12000 Storage fabrics.

• Head of a team of engineers responsible for supporting UNIX systems such as Sun Microsystems, HP 9000 and IBM P series systems. This position involved supporting a European client base both remotely and onsite in a senior capacity.• Undertook presales visits to carry out hardware and software audits so the sales team could tender accordingly.The role also involved pre sales visits where it was my responsibility to carry out hardware and software audits so the sales team could tender accordingly.

• Member of a large team of engineers supporting hardware and software contracts for Sun Microsystems international client’s (Mainly Asia Pacific). Supporting Sun Hardware and all none end of life Solaris operating systems. This also included the support of Tape libraries, Disk Enclosures and all relevant software such as Veritas Volume Manager, Solstice Disk Suite and Veritas Netbackup.

• Team Leader for a team of technicians within Keystone, strongly involved with Disaster Recovery testing and system implementation. Main contracts covered Sun Microsystems servers but also IBM, HP and Intel Platforms.• Delivered solutions supporting the Deutsche Boerse on Sun Microsystems hardware where DEC Alpha VMS and IBM AIX systems were decommissioned and replaced with midrange Sun Microsystem Servers.• Supporting the customer base of Keystone, over the phone and remotely via modem or VPN.• Provided consultancy onsite for implementation and support issues.
