Peter Yellowlees MBBS, MD is CEO of Asynchealth and Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry at UC Davis. At Asynchealth he is focused on solving the biggest mental health problem of too many patients seeking care from too few clinicians. He is doing this by unlocking the asynchronous connection between patients and mental health professionals using AI driven asynchronous video consults which give patients better access to care, and psychiatrists the ability to treat more patients. Prior to 2022 he held the Allan Stoudemire Endowed Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California Davis, was Vice Chair for Faculty Development. in 2018 he was President of the American Telemedicine Association having been on the Board for a decade previously. He specializes in the use of telepsychiatry and had an in-person psychiatric practice where he mainly treated physicians. His research on asynchronous telepsychiatry was funded with 4 federal and state grants and he has published over 250 scientific articles and 7 books. He is an experienced media commentator and worked as a video editor for Medscape from 2009 to 2019 producing over 180 video editorials. He regularly teaches and consults in America and overseas and has written 8 books including , "Telepsychiatry and Health Technologies - a guide for mental health professionals" which was published in January 2018, and "Physician Suicide: Cases and Commentaries" was published in July 2018 while Physician Wellbeing: cases and solutions" was published in 2020. All 3 books were published nationally and internationally by American Psychiatric Publishing Inc and are widely available, including on Amazon where Dr Yellowlees has a detailed authors page.

Dr. Yellowlees has worked in public and private sectors, in academia, and in rural settings. He has consulted to governments and private sector companies in several countries and has received about $8 million in research grants. His main interests are in improving access to health and education services using information technologies and in assisting physicians with their own health problems.

CurrentDr Yellowlees recent publication of "Physician Suicide: Cases and Commentaries" is a case based textbook of physician health and wellbeing that focuses on the suicide as this occurs twice as commonly in physicians as it does in the general public. The book is an excellent guide to self-care and is recommended for all medical providers and those who work with them. Dr Yellowlees other 2018 book publication, jointly with Jay Shore MD, is "Telepaychiatry and Health Technologies: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals." This book is essential reading for any mental health professionals incorporating communication technologies into their clinical practice. Both books are available on Amazon.
