Paul Nguyen is currently a 3L and J.D. candidate at the University of Minnesota Law School and recipient of the Dean’s Distinguished Scholarship. At the University of Minnesota Law School, Paul is a zealous advocate for public interest and pro-bono activities, and is an active member of the Minnesota Justice Foundation (MJF) Student Chapter, for which he served as a 1L Representative Vice-President. Currently, Paul is serving as a Student Director of the University of Minnesota IP Moot Court. He will also be participating in the AIPLA Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition 2020 as a competitor for the school. He is interested in exploring the area of real estate, corporate, and international law. Because of his hobby exploring software coding and internet technology, Paul is also exploring the legal field of data privacy law, especially the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which he completed Thomson Reuters's Data Privacy Awareness learning course. Before attending law school, Paul is a proud Virginia Tech Hokie and alum, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Because of his undergraduate degree, Paul is adept at complex financial modeling with Excel, is experienced with binomial modeling for stock options, and has a good understanding of financial risk management and financial statement analysis. During the weekend, he tutors the LSAT, focusing on helping students with test-taking problems such as anxiety. In his free time, Paul is an avid traveler, hiker, camper, and soccer fan. As a passionate lifelong learner, he also spends time exploring and acquiring knowledge on new topics, as well as perfecting his skill as a amateur home cook and pianist, as well as maintaining a growing investment portfolio.
