About Prash Naidu

I'm an environmental anthropologist with a research focus on health, pollution, and climate change in the Pacific Rim and North America. Broadly, I study landscape transformations and atmospheric pollution caused by uneven development and resource extraction and trace their impacts on people and ecosystems.My research uses community-driven participatory methods to map pollution and to intervene in the global endeavor to document evanescent forms of industrial pollution and inform future pollution regulation policies. Two lines of current research include:1). Mining for Sand and Capital in the Asia Pacific: Examines human health and socio-environmental impacts of sand mining in the Pacific Rim.2). Bad Air: Studies the impacts of environmental racism in the context of air pollution and chronic respiratory diseases faced by communities of color in North America.
