CurrentI conceptualized and designed the Frederick & Sophie site as a global shoppable story platform for parents with kids ages 0-5+. As a story-merchant I selected chic quality wooden toys from toy brands and manufacturers in UK, USA, France, Spain, Scandinavia, and Hungary that fitted to the Frederick & Sophie stories, added a dash of whimsy to playroom and home, evoked a young child’s imagination, supported early learning through (pretend) play, and could be passed on. All products had to fit into the Frederick & Sophie stories, style, and color palette, adhere to our strict safety guidelines, be of superior quality, and stimulate imagination, fine motor skills, and early learning. All products were shipped world wide from our own warehouse in Germany. I reimagined Frederick and Sophie as the store's precocious kid-protagonists who narrated product descriptions, story-posts, social media posts, and website pages. Their highly distinctive voices evoked the curiosity, childlike wonder, and directness of our preschool audience. I created the Absolutely Awesome Adventures of Frederick & Sophie as the store's main storyline, and I added Terribly Terrific Toy Stories as the place to read stories about our toys coming to life in Frederick and Sophie's toy room.Knowing that a fantasy story element reflected the endless possibilities of imagination and pretend play, I developed the character George: a highly imperfect magical manny whose mixing up of spells often got him into trouble.I created all content on the site, blog, social media pages, newsletters including stories, features, product texts, graphics, captions, ads. I worked together with illustrators to bring all stories to life through watercolor illustrations. I directed and styled the illustrations to ensure that our characters and toys were presented in line with our brand voice and overall shop style. https://priscillaobermeier.com/it-s-us-frederick-and-sophie
