About Priscilla Obermeier

With 20 years of experience in editorial storytelling, brand writing, and creating digital customer-oriented brand and editorial content, I have been instrumental in developing creative content strategies aligned with branding and marketing goals. I have shaped brand narratives and core messaging during start-up and/or rebranding stages, and I developed on-going content to create awareness and cement brand positions for my own brands and a portfolio of global brand clients. On the digital side, I used my fashion journalism and editorial skills to bridge editorial and technology, creating online editorial and story-driven E-Commerce platforms for my design, lifestyle, and kids lifestyle properties. I have successfully optimized customer journeys and increased website traffic through the implementation of branded digital entertainment: shoppable editorial content, innovative and consumer focused web design, and the integration of social media shops. My conceptual, creative, and organizational skills and understanding of the importance of harmony and consistency in all communication have enabled me to increase brand and product visibility and increase engagement of selected target audiences of start-up and established brands.Having lived and worked in Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Berlin, Milan, Vienna, Dubai, Jakarta, and Kuala Lumpur, I have the ability to think globally, act locally, and be culturally aware of optimizing content across international and local niche media and developing new and innovative ways of telling stories across multiple platforms, including digital, print, video, and social.https://priscillaobermeier.com

  • Frederick & Sophie
    Chief Creative Officer (Cco)
    Frederick & Sophie Oct 2020 - Present
    Global
I conceptualized and designed the Frederick & Sophie site as a global shoppable story platform for parents with kids ages 0-5+. As a story-merchant I selected chic quality wooden toys from toy brands and manufacturers in UK, USA, France, Spain, Scandinavia, and Hungary that fitted to the Frederick & Sophie stories, added a dash of whimsy to playroom and home, evoked a young child’s imagination, supported early learning through (pretend) play, and could be passed on. All products had to fit into the Frederick & Sophie stories, style, and color palette, adhere to our strict safety guidelines, be of superior quality, and stimulate imagination, fine motor skills, and early learning. All products were shipped world wide from our own warehouse in Germany. I reimagined Frederick and Sophie as the store's precocious kid-protagonists who narrated product descriptions, story-posts, social media posts, and website pages. Their highly distinctive voices evoked the curiosity, childlike wonder, and directness of our preschool audience. I created the Absolutely Awesome Adventures of Frederick & Sophie as the store's main storyline, and I added Terribly Terrific Toy Stories as the place to read stories about our toys coming to life in Frederick and Sophie's toy room.Knowing that a fantasy story element reflected the endless possibilities of imagination and pretend play, I developed the character George: a highly imperfect magical manny whose mixing up of spells often got him into trouble.I created all content on the site, blog, social media pages, newsletters including stories, features, product texts, graphics, captions, ads. I worked together with illustrators to bring all stories to life through watercolor illustrations. I directed and styled the illustrations to ensure that our characters and toys were presented in line with our brand voice and overall shop style. https://priscillaobermeier.com/it-s-us-frederick-and-sophie

  • Frederick & Sophie
Chief Creative Officer (Cco) & Story Merchant
    Frederick & Sophie 2017 - 2020
    Global
After several years of successfully building our designer label, I decided to grow our mono brand site into a store concept built around the WORLD of Frederick & Sophie with our designs as the store's private label. This would become the first digital department storY.Adding the store categories style, books, beauty & grooming, gourmet, and kids lifestyle, I selected products from brands fitting to the Frederick & Sophie style. Using my editorial background, I treated the site as a story to which all products should fit. The story came first, products were integrated INTO it. I developed 8 different characters, each representing a different part of the Frederick & Sophie target audience. All characters lived in a fictional apartment building named The Residence. Merchandise edits were built around the different floors of the Residence and could be shopped. Our site design contained heavy story-shop integrations of which SHOP the Residence was one.To create character and product scenes, I worked together with a team of remote illustrators in France, USA, and UK. I styled each illustration, giving precise instructions and editorial feedback.I created 5 character blogs. Each character blog was written by me in a distinctive character voice, e.g., a kids voice for the Poppy & Parker kids characters and a straightforward and slightly sarcastic voice for career woman Kat. Through these blogs and social media posts. I told the ongoing Frederick & Sophie story.I added the SEEN IN link-buttons on each product page, displaying the story a product was "seen in". The site contained extensive integrations between the shop's product pages, character blogs, and social media.I styled and directed illustrations and images and wrote all site copy. I created and designed the F&S social media concept, integrating illustrated character and lifestyle posts, product posts, and character quotes and moments.https://priscillaobermeier.com/the-first-digital-department-story
  • Frederick & Sophie
    Designer & Chief Creative Officer
    Frederick & Sophie Sep 2013 - Jan 2017
    Berlin Area, Germany
Inspired by my editorial background in fashion journalism and brand writing, I challenged myself to design a curated capsule collection of elevated wardrobe essentials including the T-shirt, the sweatpants, the cashmere sweater, and the peacoat: high quality basics that were versatile in wear and could withstand active city-life, extensive travel, the test of time, and maintain their form and function while worn.Bridging editorial and technology, I chose to create an online editorial E-Commerce platform which should turn the T-shirt into the main character of an ongoing story and place craftsmanship at the forefront.I co-founded the FREDERICK & SOPHIE Atelier & Showroom in Berlin in 2013. Here, I worked together with a team of tailors and seamstresses to develop and produce a capsule collection of modern-day luxury basics, using techniques that stemmed from the codes of custom tailoring. The Frederick & Sophie T-Shirts and sweatpants were described as "Pure luxury basics" by the fashion trade press, received interest from internationally renowned retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Barney's, Bergdorf, Ilum, and KaDeWe, and were sold by independent high-end retailers in Germany, Austria and France.Together with our yarn & fabric partners in Italy and Germany, I developed the FREDERICK & SOPHIE Karnak Menoufi Egyptian Cotton jersey fabric. I worked together with couture artisans in Paris to develop our embroidery designs. In 2017 we moved design to Italy and production to Austria. Together with our Italian and Austrian design and manufacturing partners, we produced FREDERICK & SOPHIE products as a private label sold through our E-Commerce properties.I conceptualized and designed the label's E-Commerce website, managed our remote web developers in USA, Germany, and Austria, and conceptualized, created, and edited all content, ensuring an editorial approach to both lay-out and copy.https://priscillaobermeier.com/a-tale-of-two-t-shirts

Creative Director & Branded Entertainment Writer/Producer: Messed Up Life
    Trueself Llc 2009 - 2011
    Greater Los Angeles Area
MessedUpLife.com (now defunct) was an L.A. based comedy site where members were invited to share funny "messed up" moments from their personal lives. I was asked to turn these stories into a digital situational comedy video concept and write and produce a pilot episode, to drive more traffic, expand the site's community, and monetize the site's content. I created, wrote, produced and marketed a 7 minute pilot episode of “Messed Up Life”, an online comedy show, based on the stories of the Messed Up Life website. After reading through all content on the Messed Up Life site, I developed several storylines and characters that could be the base of an ongoing video series. Through monthlong table readings with actors, I rewrote screenplays, scenes, and dialogues, until a storyline was set.I integrated selected stories of the MessedUpLife.com community into the script of the pilot episode, and I redesigned the Messed Up Life site to be a community and video platform.I conceptualized and created a Messed Up Life Facebook page and Twitter page. Both were narrated by the characters, bridging fiction and reality. After pitching “Messed Up Life” to MAZDA North America and suit maker A.M. Bespoke both agreed to be integrated into future episodes. The pilot episode received 17,0000 views in the first two weeks and appraisal from the international entertainment industry. The pilot episode and digital branded entertainment concept received press coverage in several online magazines including CBS Moneywatch. The MessedUpLife.com community grew with 60% after airing the pilot episode on Youtube.I thought it had a ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ or ‘Episodes’ (a Showtime comedy) feel to it.― Timothy Holloway, New Media Specialist Madison Square Garden, New York City, U.S.A.Priscilla, congrats!
