Worked on the startup and optimization of new solids separations equipment on the New East Side Expansion of the Livingston winery.Collaborated with Engineering, Operations Managers, Senior Operators, and fellow Interns to create Standard Operating Procedures for all tasks associated with solids separations equipment.Post-startup, worked on swing shift (4pm to 12am) along with Operators and a Team Lead, worked on engineering optimization projects, ensured proper equipment operation, and performed handoffs between intern teammates between shifts.Worked primarily on the documentation, startup, and optimization of two Della Toffola Continuous Flotation units, ensuring the information is available for future additions of flotation units.

Worked on optimization projects for several unit operations within the Lactose production plant, encompassing crystallization, centrifugal separation, and drying processes. Communicated with a variety of co-workers on a daily basis – plant operators, supervisors, managers, and process engineers, as well as R & D and quality assurance personnel. Also participated in weekly Process Improvement meetings to discuss ongoing optimization projects throughout the plant.Performed plant-scale trials, which included modifying process variables, pulling samples from various locations in the plant, and performing various bench-top analyses in a laboratory.Analyzed the collected data using Excel and presented the results in several clear and concise reports.One particular dataset was used to update a correlation between in-process variables and finished product quality results, resulting in a better understanding of operating thresholds allowing up to an additional $1000 of product to be produced each day.
