About Matt Poland
I am a graduate student researcher and instructor in the Department of English at the University of Washington. My research and professional interests are borne out of a love for archives and other physical and digital collections. My doctoral research is provisionally focused on how early modern books were read, used, and organized in the period 1780-1830. I have a background in library and information science, and my professional aim is to work in a curatorial capacity in an academic library. I previously worked as a researcher in the software industry, primarily for IBM and Microsoft, and I am keenly interested in digital interfaces and how people use them to do research, especially on archival materials.
Listed skills include Information Architecture, Information Organization, Usability Testing, User Research, and 24 others.
