The SIMPLE Hub houses a research program that will be supported through the Regional Research Collaboration Program (RRC) administered by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and aims to work on Sustainable Industry Manufacturing Planning for Long-term Ecosystems.The Hub will implement a comprehensive research program targeted at the development of sustainable cross-sector industry ‘ecosystems’ that support development of new circulareconomies. The project partners will create a step-change by focusing on capacity building initiatives to enable industry and universities to co-design and develop new products and processes to support regional manufacturing priorities such as technical, environmental, economic, educational and cultural aspects of green energy, resource recovery and waste recycling/upcycling. It will also create a workforce pipeline to support the sector, with a focus on training of industry-ready researchers who will be the innovators for regional manufacturing industries into the future, while attracting and retaining manufacturing opportunities and talent in regional areas. Responsible for managing a team of 13 full time academic staff and >20 casual staff

The NO WASTE pilot precinct is a research and education initiative funded through the Strategic University Reform Fund (SURF) administered by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and aims to design a sustainable future with ‘no waste’, through partnered research, education and employment initiatives. The precinct has commenced with a focus on tackling waste issues unique to regional areas through local collaborations between university, industry, government and communities aimed at converting Australia’s unrecovered waste into value-added products and creating employment. ON Prime is an entry level, part-time pre-accelerator that helps research teams validate their research and discover a real world application for it. During the program, teams work closely with experienced facilitators and the ON mentor network, to test paths for their IP, know-how or tech through a process of customer discovery and market validation.
