CurrentHeadhunted as part of new wave of leadership at Rotherham, recruited to deliver transformation in the wake of the Jay/Casey Reviews. Responsible from bringing together new department to lead and manage delivery of libraries, registration and bereavement services, cultural policy and commissioning, parks, countryside and green spaces, events, tourism, play, sport and leisure, arts, theatre, music education, museums, heritage and archives.Policy and Partnership- Developed first Cultural Strategy in 10 years, with 7 game-changers and a collective mission to ‘get more people active, creative and outdoors more often’ as a way to improve health and wellbeing, support community cohesion, encourage civic pride, support inclusive growth and transform perceptions of the borough. - Established new partnerships including Like Rotherham - the new cultural partnership board, the Rotherham Cultural Education Partnership, Visit Rotherham and the Rotherham Activity Partnership, embedding them within the wider community planning framework for the borough.- Set up new multi-agency partnership with emergency services, highways, licensing, emergency planning and community safety to drive improvement in safety and security at all events taking place in the borough. Performance and transformation- Increased usage of Rotherham Council managed services to over 3 million visits annually, driving up customer satisfaction ratings to 90% average and increasing learning and engagement usage to over 500,000 annually. - Undertook management restructure to create new leadership team.Financial and income generation- Delivered efficiency savings and increased income to reduce dependence on Council budgets by over £1m net in 3 years.- Secured new external funding to support increased participation and place-making activities, including £1.2m Wentworth and Elsecar Great Place and Flux Capacitor - a £4m project under the Arts Council England Creative People and Places programme.
