In 2010 I was asked to represent a number of companies on a self-employed basis. This led to the creation of Polly Rivers PR. These clients required the development of a strong brand awareness within the rail industry in order for their sector positioning to be well documented at all levels. From tender submissions, award roll outs and operational delivery, the need for comprehensive, strong, commercially-aware brand positioning was key.As a freelance marketing manager for a number of UK and European-based clients, my responsibilities extended to:- The management of external contractors- Planning and overseeing re-brands- Digital rebuilds- Visual branding extending to physical assets- Development and maintenance of marketing collateral- Contract management of national sponsorship and associated marketing requirements- Photography – on-site and marketing usage- Advert design, development and editing- Content creation for both PR and marketing purposes- Internal communications- Internal brand auditing- Internal relationship management- Tender document creationDuring my time working within the rail industry, I also oversaw a number of corporate buy-outs, and managed the internal and external communications.

My continuing work with Urban.co.uk saw the brand continue to grow and flourish.I continued to work closely with the National Landlords Association, recording one webinar a month with the marketing team. There is an annual schedule in place until June 2019, with landlords already registered to take part in every event for the next 12 months. I continued to ensure that that the Landlord University provided an engaging and varied news source for landlords.

I was appointed to direct the marketing and development of Urban.co.uk, with an aim to boost brand awareness and direct traffic to website, whilst increasing the basket value of existing customers. I oversaw a rebrand, digital uplift and revenue optimisation strategy, which included the creation of the Landlord University, a market-leading news platform. I also implemented a regionally-focussed direct marketing campaign, which allowed Urban.co.uk to attend regional landlord events across the UK – averaging three a week, meeting around 400 landlords a month face-to-face. Meeting customers at regional meetings ensured that despite Urban.co.uk being entirely online, the business was considered regional – a significant advantage in this highly competitive disruptive market. I spoke at most meetings, with topics ranging from the impact of GDPR, to the upcoming tenant fee ban.

PLANTWORX is a bi-annual trade exhibition, showcasing innovation within the construction and civil engineering sector, with a special focus on live demonstrations. The June 2019 exhibition welcomes the addition of RAILWORX for the very first time, a dedicated show aimed purely at the rail civils sector.
