Highly experienced performing arts worker with great depth of knowledge and demonstrated expertise across a comprehensive range of professional skills: Acting, Dramaturgy, Literary Management, Voice-overs, Playwriting. Also, teaching Vocal Technique, Playwriting, performance skills. Has wide-ranging credits in the professional performance industry - particularly as an actor and as a dramaturg - as well as extensive experience teaching both Playwriting and Voice for student Actors (including many years of teaching units at University level, for both WAAPA and Curtin Uni). Spent a number of years with Black Swan State Theatre Company as their Literary Advisor and then as their Literary Director (2012 - 2022 inclusive). Responsible for sourcing plays for programming consideration; reading, reporting on and recommending plays; maintaining communication with playwrights locally, nationally and internationally; exploring commissioning ideas with the Artistic Director; supporting commissioned playwrights throughout their commissioned period and giving regular dramaturgical feedback; running script development workshops; running the Company's associated writer group; providing whatever literary support was requested by the Artistic Director and by other departments.Then in September 2022, made the exciting decision to return to freelance work full-time. This move has enabled a widening of availability across the artform once more. Was delighted to be able to take advantage of this immediately, returning to acting and going into rehearsals for OIL (for Black Swan State Theatre Company), in October of 2022. Most recently seen performing in Black Swan's Festival of Perth production of THE POOL for the 2024 Perth Festival. Then worked as facilitator/dramaturg/mentor for the 2024 Yirra Yaarnz writers' program, for Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company, culminating in public readings of new plays at the WA museum. Will be running workshops at the upcoming Playwriting Festival in Perth.Strong, senior arts professional, studied at WAAPA (MA (Creative Arts); BA (Performing Arts)). Also studied at Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and Adelaide CAE; Main areas of work interest include professional acting or voice-overs (please contact my agent MCA, Perth) or dramaturgy.
