One of my specialties is ensuring that software development initiatives deliver successfully on the business objectives that were identified when funding the initiatives. "Success" = software that achieves business objectives, on time, and within/under budget. The foundation for success is to provide thorough, timely requirements that are clearly understood by software engineers. The key to thorough requirements lies in quickly gaining an understanding of the business objectives and then producing requirements that align with available technology and the needs of users. I bridge the business and technical communities, particularly in situations where users are not available to work directly with development. I have experience both managing successful teams of business analysts and eliciting and documenting requirements myself. As a successful business analyst, I am able to come up to speed quickly in any opportunity space, understand the business goals (e.g., increased revenue, decreased costs), and quickly produce thorough requirements from which software developers can code efficiently and thus deliver the correct solution. Another of my specialties is providing user acceptance testing, in partnership users, to ensure delivered software meets the requirements, business objectives, and user needs. Using requirements and/or prototyping, successful user acceptance testing involves developing test cases to exercise software thoroughly. I have experience both managing successful teams of testers and testing software myself. Thorough requirements and user acceptance testing are the best predictors of software development initiatives achieving the original objectives.
