Polly Jacobs is a Los Angeles and New York based dancer, choreographer, and teacher with a MA in from New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study and a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Art History from New York University Tisch School of the Arts. She is currently a freelance contemporary dancer and a dance teacher.At the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Polly began her Master's at NYU Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Her concentration pertains to the Anthropology of Dance, specifically looking at value structures and the organization of contemporary dance in the US. Her formal coursework focused on the fields of Anthropology and Performance Studies in order to grasp a global understanding of the field of study. Originally from Los Angeles, Polly began as a tap and hip-hop dancer before later discovering ballet and contemporary. Whilst at NYU, Polly worked with numerous choreographers both nationally and internationally. She choreographed eight original works during her undergraduate career and went on to present her culminating piece at several theaters in New York. Additionally, Polly participated in the Dance and New Media program at NYU where she developed dance on camera skills that she has fastidiously maintained.Outside of her dance career, Polly was a founding member and director of L’Dough V’Dough, a program in collaboration with the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust, connecting teens to Holocaust survivors (ldoughvdough.com). She would go on to work with several non-profit organizations in roles pertaining to client communication, organization, and funding. Polly began working as a part-time salesperson for Trek Bicycle in New York in March 2021. She quickly climbed the ranks in the company and has traveled on behalf of the company to assist other stores in sales techniques, visual merchandizing, and inventory management. She was promoted to Inventory manager at a multi-million dollar store in Los Angeles where she currently works.Polly is an active contemporary dancer and choreographer, as well as a teacher at many dance schools around the country. She has been invited as a master instructor in a wide variety of styles including ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, breakdancing, composition, and improvisation. Polly fastidiously invests in the current state of dance and is constantly working toward authentic artistry, genuine connections, and the integrity of method.
