I am a dynamic results oriented and focused forester, passionate with scientific research and implementation of conservation related activities, for community livelihood improvement. I am currently working with IUCN Uganda Office as a program officer (forests) directly coordinating the Towards Pro-Poor REDD+ phase II project and extending technical support to IUCN forest related projects in the country. The Towards Pro-Poor REDD+ phase II is focusing on integration of pro-poor principles and rights-based approaches into the Uganda National REDD+ Strategy, and other frameworks for sustainable management of forest resources in the country. My work experience of over sixteen years in addition includes support as a project manager, to Rwenzori Mountains Conservation and Environmental Management Project, implemented by World Wide Fund for Nature Uganda country office, with financial support from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation. The project worked towards strengthening management effectiveness of the park, and ensuring resilience of communities and biodiversity to climate change effects, among other threats. I have in addition worked as Program Officer with Environmental Conservation Trust of Uganda promoting climate mitigation strategies; and as a biodiversity data bank manager and coordinator of GEF funded Cross Border Biodiversity Project component that was based at Makerere University.
