Basically, I am an analytical chemist in the field of drugs and pharmaceuticals and developed expertise in development of new analytical methods using GC, HPLC, UV- Vis Spec and FTIR Spec. Validation of these analytical methods became area of my special interest. My experience in drug analysis has helped me to develop a number analytical systems to follow kinetics of organic reactions in efficient and economical methods. i.e the teams led by me have been successful in coming out with cost effective, still faster and even more economical analytical methods involving potentiometric titrations, quantitative TLC, UV/IR spectrophotometry in place of expensive and time consuming HPLC analyses. This knowledge helped me to work on stability studies and impurity profile study of the drugs. Simultaneously, I have developed expertise in documenting these studies as Drug Master Files.Later, my analytical knowledge induced me to start working on herbs of SIDDHA and AYURVEDA to identify and quantify the phytochemicals present in them. This exploration work naturally led me to isolate these phytomolecules, characterize and subject them for clinical trials. I have set up a phytochemicals extraction unit where we isolate Curcuminoids, Piperine, Lutein, Gingerols, etc in commercial quantities. We export to countries like USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, France, New Zealand etc. The earnings support me to work on lesser known herbs and to document them. Now, my main work is to identify lesser known herbs, conduct phytochemical finger print analysis, isolation of phytomolecules, characterization followed by clinical studies and document the findings. I have taken an active role in setting up a non profit research Institute to work on Phytochemical research, synthesis of phytochemical analogues, Chemometrics, molecular dynamics, Green Chemistry and Clinical study. As a part of skill development activity among Graduate and Post Graduate Chemists such as started training them on analytical chemistry, which includes explaining of (1) Wet analysis: Principles and performing of Titration and Gravimetry(2) Instrumental analysis basic principles, construction of instruments, development of analytical methods using Instruments (UV, FTIR, GC, HPLC, AAS)(3) Validation of Analytical methods. Specialties: Phytochemicals isolation, Characterisation, Clinical study and documentation.
