It's a joy to maintain a strong relationship with WAM and provide advice on a regular basis. I get to continue interacting with brilliant people at WAM and be a part of the incredible truth driven, non-political, culture.

Over my 18 years in a full time role, I had the opportunity to help Weiss Asset Management grow from 7 employees and $170 million of assets under management to nearly 100 employees and $3 billion of assets under management. In addition to general oversight duties, I was a member of the Investment Committee and the Management Committee, and served as Head of Risk Management from 2020 to 2022. Weiss Asset Management remains to this day a politics free meritocracy, intensely focused on rational decision making. I'm also particularly proud that WAM continues to treat its clients with a refreshingly straightforward and honest approach.

I was responsible for analysis, trading, and risk management across multiple asset classes. I helped develop and implement strategies with a broad range of approaches, including quantitative, arbitrage, fundamental and activism. I was also responsible for supervising traders and analysts.WAM is truly a meritocracy with artificial ceiling on its employees. Having started with no investing experience in 2004, I was given the opportunity to learn and improve quickly, and I will be forever grateful for that opportunity.

The Polynera Initiative supports organizations that provide educational opportunity to young people who wouldn't otherwise have it.We believe our society will be more innovative and prosperous if more of our youth have a pathway to education and careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Students from low income areas and minority groups are massively underrepresented at every level of STEM. We're missing out on a vast pool of future leaders that, equipped with the tools of rational thinking provided by a STEM education, could help us solve the immense challenges facing society. At the individual level, a STEM education provides a source of economic mobility and equal opportunity. Math and science can also be a source of beauty and joy, something which is often lost in the typical schooling experience.This isn't an easy problem to solve - and we wish we had the answers. We believe it starts with exposing more young people to the beauty and creativity of doing real mathematics, helping them understand their individual potential, and then following up with support and educational opportunities.

I taught math and physics, coached soccer and volleyball and served as an advisor to students from grade 6 to 12.
