-Lead educational and recreational activities for a group of 5th grade students at a non-profit community elementary school for Washington Heights’s underserved population to encourage academic and personal development-Construct weekly lesson plans in STEM, literacy, mathematics, and social emotional learning to ensure student enrichment-Coordinate with staff on how to better serve programs and activities for students through trainings and meetings

-Shadowed pediatric neurosurgeons in an outpatient setting of the Department of Pediatric Neurosurgery of Hassenfeld's Children's Hospital -Learned about congenital and neurological disorders, diagnoses, and respective treatments along with interpreting medical scans such as MRI's and X-Rays-Participated in tumor board and neuro-oncology conferences with other physicians during which medical cases were presented and discussed

-Spearheaded an NSF-funded study in retinal development under Dr. Mark Emerson in which I found cis-regulatory modules driving expression of the Ptf1a transcrption factor. This would help identify the earliest factors driving horizontal cell fates in the embryonic chick retina-Conducted cloning experiments of Prdm13 and Rbpj transcription factors to identify downstream targets and relations to Ptf1a transcription factor expression by creating misexpression constructs-Learned basic molecular biology lab techniques such as PCR,restriction digests, Southern Blot, bacterial transformation, cell culture, electroporation, confocal microscopy imaging, and immunostaining-Organized and taught engaging and interactive lesson plans to introduce middle school students from underserved communities to basic concepts in genetics and STEM research and served as a mentor to foster community development

-Completed over 300 hours of service and shadowing in an intensive clinical internship in the Emergency Department, rotating in the Adult and Pediatric Emergency Room, Adult Psychiatry Department, Social Work, Urgent Care, Trauma Ward, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and Operating Room-Supported patients and their families by assisting in requests that fell within our policies, comforting them, making phone calls on their behalf, and interpreting non-medical information-Aided hospital staff with non-medical needs such as transporting patients, preparing stretchers, depositing specimen to the lab, retrieving medication and blood samples, and restocking supplies-Shadowed paramedics and EMTs during an FDNY Ride Along to better understand how emergency medical care is provided in critical situations-Collaborated with volunteers in organizing a community health fair to the Bellevue and greater NYC population in which I increased awareness of HIV/AIDS by reaching out to local non-profits with information on preventative strategies and treatment options to improve well-being. -Led and presented a project proposal to administrative leaders of Bellevue's ED on developing hospital based community gardens and sustainable nutrition programs to address food insecurity

-Shadowed Dr. Nafis Khan in the Pediatric Emergency Department and learned about basic diagnosis and treatment-Facilitated hospital network by communicating with hospital staff and patients-Assisted clinicians in completing patient EMR's

-Completed over 800 hours of service in the Intensive Care Unit by improving patient stays by conversing with, reading to, and providing food and other necessities for patients-Supported hospital staff by retrieving medication, depositing specimen and interpreting Bengali and Hindi

-Observed orthopedic surgeons provide medical care and attention in a clinic setting-Assisted in obtaining patient medical history-Translated Bengali and Hindi
