Here at Safety NetAccess, I was given to opportunity to delve into the world of computer networking. Predominately, I worked on hotels under the Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, and IHG flags. I was the boots-on-ground technician, traveling within North Carolina and out to Georgia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and many other states to client sites. I performed HSIA site surveys to assess current HSIA layout and propose upgrade layout. My work also included HSIA access point installations, network fixes, and upgrades. As a field technician, I was able to be responsible and learn from a wide breadth of responsibilities.

At Ethertronics, I was given to opportunity to work in the lab. Here is where I hard tested small chips in a large tester in order to check their viability as well as program them with the necessary software. There were very strict procedures which I followed to check for pass or fail: First run a test set through the tester to make sure it's reading passes as passes. Once that's ensured, run the program and test the set in question, sorting passes and fails as I go. I also made sure to pay attention to the fail number-- this told me why that chip had failed, and if it was a hard fail, or if it was possible to turn it into a pass. I would also look out for a series of fails, and retest the test set through the tester in order to check that it was still reading passes as passes, or if it was in need of a retune. Gathering this data, it was fascinating to see how it affected the next batch of product.

Costa Mesa, Ca

In beautiful Costa Mesa, I was able to work at Branded Online as a user testing technician. My work consisted of hard testing websites and catching any user-interface problems before it reached the customers. This included testing each page, looking at each item, testing for any zoom issues on images or improper images in place, checking the item's description, and any issues with the links (did the redirect properly, the "add-to-cart" work, for example). I would make note of any found issue as well as a detailed description of said issue and its link. Further on at Branded Online, I was working closely with Google Analytics and our email marketing. Specifically, I would use information from Google Analytics, and if it fit a certain criteria-- such as how many times an email bounced, or the user opted out-- I would remove that specific email from the email marketing list. It was a great opportunity to become familiarized and understood how to use and read the information from Google Analytics.
