Volunteer member of the 'Epilepsy Gene Curation Expert Panel'

I have worked on multiple projects where I identified the disease-causing gene/s in families with multiple individuals affected with epilepsy. I employed genome-wide linkage analysis, whole-genome sequencing and sanger sequencing to identify the candidate gene.The protein encoded by the candidate gene/s were further functionally characterized for their expression, localization, protein-protein interactions and other specific functions in the cell by using techniques such as mammalian cell culture, immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, western blot analysis, RNA and protein expression analysis, immunopulldown assays, cell cycle assays, live-cell studies and mouse model-based experiments.

This was a summer research fellowship programme jointly sponsored by IASc (Bengaluru), INSA (New Delhi) and NASI (Allahabad). I worked on expression of invivo biotinylated protein system.

I worked on the project 'Molecular characterization of Pongamia pinnata using RAPD'.
