Pooja Das Sarkar is a filmmaker and writer who is passionate about cinema, gender and development communication. She started her career as a reporter for The Telegraph and Time Out magazine and has been a correspondent for the popular social issues-based TV show Satyamev Jayate. Her writing on cinema has been published in The Hindu, Arre.co.in, and The Swaddle and her films have been screened at prestigious film festivals across the world. Pooja has taught cinema studies and development communication courses at media and social work colleges. She runs her own creative agency in Mumbai and is the founder of the online platform, Filmwali, dedicated to documenting the work, life and representation of women in Indian cinema. Pooja holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from Jadavpur University and another MA from Media and Cultural Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She recently completed a short course in narrative filmmaking from Prague Film School, Czech Republic.

Earlier this year I wrote and directed a 20-minute short film for teenagers, which is travelling to film festivals like the Lahore International Film Festival and the International Children's Film Festival of India 2017.
