Operations Associate
Project Manager
My primary task in this role was to lead and manage long-term B2B projects, and build and maintain client relationships. I oversaw multiple projects at once and managed changes on a daily basis. The construction industry is quite unpredictable, making work in this sector very dynamic. This has helped me become even more detail-oriented, a fast problem-solver, and an excellent communicator. As part of this role, I managed a team in the manufacturing department with which I coordinated client requests to organise the production schedules and ensure timely delivery of the products. Throughout my time at this position, I detected a major pain point in operations, namely poor organization and communication between different teams. To tackle this, I developed and implemented a tool which monitors projects and tracks raw materials, inventory, and shipments, saving time on key processes and helping increase operational efficiency. The trust and responsibility given to me by my manager let me initiate and oversee other projects, such as maintaining and growing the company’s social media presence, redesigning the website, and participating in new hire trainings.
Peer Mentor
As a foreigner moving to the US alone at the age of 19, I felt out of place at first. However, the peer mentors and advisors at the Undeclared Program at Northeastern (now Explore Program) helped me get used to my new life quicker. After gaining some experience and becoming more comfortable in the environment, I wanted to give back to the community and help incoming students feel less lost and scared about this new journey they've begun. In this role, I assisted undeclared students with their transition and exploration process in their first semester at Northeastern. Together with my team, we introduced the students to various majors, career paths, and tools to navigate their personal and academic lives. Given each student’s skills and interests, we helped them select suitable courses. I connected with each student individually throughout the semester to track their progress, discuss future plans, detect current concerns and difficulties, and develop strategies to resolve them.
Marketing And Sales Co-Op
With this role I wanted to explore the Finance industry and more specifically Asset Management. Being in the marketing department at CAM gave me the perfect balance between learning from people who've worked in finance for years and developing my marketing skills. I increased sales by supporting a team of ten internal and external salespeople in their efforts to reach more clients. To do this, I compiled research projects using Salesforce CRM and Zephyr Analytics, produced marketing materials for 16 investment portfolios quarterly, coordinating schedules, and more. I also prepared analytical comparisons of investment strategies daily using industry databases. For my long-term project, I boosted traffic on CAM's website by redesigning the site to ensure better user experience and improved visibility and recognition in the market.
International Student Ambassador
I was the liaison between incoming international Explore students and Northeastern University each summer for three consecutive years. As their main point of contact, I answered students’ inquiries and eased their transition by introducing them to student life and organizations, lifestyle in the US and specifically Boston, living in residence halls, differences between American and European educational practices, and adaptation techniques and resources. Together with fellow ISAs, we collected feedback and held brainstorming sessions that helped us improve the program.
N.U.In Liaison
I guided first-year Northeastern Explore students who were studying abroad in Germany, Greece, and England through their major-exploration process. For two consecutive semesters, I was the students' connection between their home and host institutions. I ensured that students were maintaining a balance between their personal and academic lives abroad while keeping them connected to Northeastern's campus in Boston. I assisted with any questions regarding the Explore Program, classes, majors, student life, and the city of Boston and prepared them for a smooth transition back to Northeastern.
Online Learning Facilitator
This role was my first work experience in a foreign country. As a learning facilitator, my main task was to communicate with student travelers to guide and inspire them through high school- and college-level academic programs. I assessed students' progress, provided feedback, and awarded them with academic credit. One of my responsibilities included being the point of contact between teachers and parents and EF's Educational Program, and specifically responding to inquiries and troubleshooting issues. In addition, I helped nourish a partnership with Southern New Hampshire University, which provided EF travelers with a chance to earn college credit. I also led a competition for the top post-tour student projects. My team encouraged my curiosity and motivation to deliver results by letting me manage and lead multiple complex projects and platforms simultaneously, including EF's educational platform. My goal for this co-op was to explore as many fields of the business as I could, so that I could make an informed choice about my future career path. My manager connected me with people in various departments and I took this opportunity to dive deeper into their work and initiated several cross-departmental projects. By collaborating with developers, designers, and sales and marketing teams, I revamped EF's online learning program and prepared it for the upcoming academic/travel year. I also participated in design thinking sessions and conducted market research of the latest industry trends. After analysing customer satisfaction surveys, I prepared a report for the Director of Explore America tours, in which I identified pain points and proposed solutions to increase customer satisfaction. For my long-term project, on my own initiative, I created an interactive prototype that offered new features and an improved version of our in-house built platform, streamlining assessment and client communication. My work received high praise from the UX & Dev teams.
