Patriccia Ordoñez-Kim (she/her) is a dedicated scholar with a strong focus on education and social justice. She is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Riverside's School of Education, where her research centers on the pedagogies of Ethnic Studies teachers. Patriccia's academic journey has been profoundly shaped by her experiences as a student in the Los Angeles public school system, inspiring her belief in the importance of critical, engaging, and liberatory education to empower youth and strengthen democracy. In addition to her research, Patriccia has presented her insights at major conferences, such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA), where she has made significant contributions to social capitals of immigrant K-12 students, racialized social violence in higher education, oral histories of Filipino college students in the 1920s, and dis/abled Asian American students in higher education. Her forthcoming co-authored book chapter with Dr. Rita Kohli and Corinna Ott, "You Need Us But Do You Want Us?: Teacher Education and the Marginalization of Ethnic Studies Teacher Candidates of Color," reflects her dedication to critical issues in teacher education. Beyond academia, Patriccia serves as the Executive Director for the University of California Graduate and Professional Council (UCGPC), advocating for student interests and social justice.
