Shanahan Engineering provides construction management services internationally to gas and steam turbine manufacturers including General Electric, Siemens, Hitachi, Mitsubishi and Alstom.The TFS division provides the services of its engineers, managers and supervisors in support of power plant construction, start-up and operations & maintenance on international assignments.Responsibilities included:- Sales and profit margin for the division- Management of a team of 16 at head office including performance reviews- Responsibility for up to 70 field employees- Operations of the division including the ISO 9001 quality management systemKey Achievements- During this time period, the division achieved record sales of 35M€.- Negotiated and achieved contract awards with new customers.- Developed a new organisation structure including departments for recruitment and employee relations. The result was a more structured and cohesive team which allowed Service Managers more time to focus on sales.- Developed the new roles of Employee Relations and Site Relations Officers so to exercise an enhanced duty of care for field employees.- Developed the company’s ISO procedures so as to remove redundant activities and enhance the performance of the division. I achieved this using a collaborative approach, agreeing, establishing and documenting roles and responsibilities for the team members.- Established a focus on customer service without compromising fair treatment of field employees or head office staff.- Developed a new database for tracking, prioritizing and streamlining recruitment activities.- Setup a weekly division meeting and encouraged social outings and employee support for charitable organizations.- Training and mentoring of newly hired Service Managers.
