Dr. Portia Risper began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 2000. She practiced as a LPN for 11 years before obtaining her Associates Degree in nursing from Columbus Technical College, in 2012. She later completed her BSN from Columbus State University in 2013 and worked as an ADON and later a DON. Due to her drive and passion, she later completed her MSN at Walden University with a specialty in Family Nurse Practitioner and obtained ANCC certification in 2016. Dr. Risper was the primary nurse practitioner over the Silver Care Unit ( a geriatric crisis stabilization unit) at Upson Regional Medical Center for two years before working telepsyh for an outpatient Community Service Board in mental health services across the lifespan. During the pandemic, Dr. Risper completed the Doctorate of Nursing Practice ( DNP) program at Walden University in 2020, after developing an educational program titled: Staff Education Program for Nurses Caring for Patients With Medical Decline on a Geriatric Psychiatric Unit ( Proquest). She later completed the post-Master's Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PHMNP) from The University of Alabama, May 2022. She holds certifications in ANCC (FNP), BLS, ACLS, and CPI. Since she has opened her first private practice, Revive Integrative Health and Wellness, LLC, located in Griffin, GA.
