Portia is a multipotentialite, perennial and lectures in the field of systems thinking, digital transformation & change, personal mastery, and designing sustainable learning strategies and cultures. She has worked for local and global companies in cross-functional roles across multiple industries, by design. This has provided her with great insights into the learning challenges experienced in Organisations and the resultant negative impact i.e. restructures & job losses.Her success in this field has also been due to her personal learning challenges experienced in South Africa post the boycotts of 1985, however, she was privileged to have been exposed to great learning Organisations and interventions, challenging her worldview and perspectives. Her interest in systems thinking started in 2002, when she observed the nature of the inter-dependencies between unlocking potential in individuals and Organisations and the impact on the sustainability of society at large.In 2007, she combined her passion for developing individuals with systems thinking-based MBA, her thesis is based on “employability”, which surfaced the socio-economic challenges in South Africa, proposing a systemic learning framework. Whilst heading Learning & Development divisions in various Organisations, she experienced learning, to a large degree, as transactional, ticking compliance boxes & treating symptoms, instead of surfacing route causes to create value and impact. Whilst studying at Insead Business School, in Paris, that she was exposed to “What value creation really means”, changing her perspective. She is currently doing with her Doctorate, focused on exploring a conceptual model toward a systemic employability design - in lieu of the need for relevant skills, given the 4th industrial revolution & impact on employability.She also shares her story of her personal journey and how she has embraced "challenges as gifts in disguise and opportunities if you so choose". She views education as her purpose and legacy.
