I began my career in learning and development in 1989 and have gained extensive knowledge in many aspects of the field including instructor-led training, instructional systems design, process improvement and evaluation. I found my passion when I began delving into the technology aspect of learning and development.I gained in-depth knowledge of learning management systems, developing web portals, and online learning. In 1997, I created LLNL’s online learning program, U-Learn. U-Learn received numerous awards and recognition's. In 2014, I received Skillsoft's Learning Champion of the Year award for the innovative and creative work done with U-Learn. In 2017, U-Learn was recognized as Program of the Year - Public Sector from Skillsoft.During my career, I created large blended learning solutions in support of institutional business initiative and curating content for a business unit. My goal was to support the development of our employees so they can meet the overall mission of the organization. The work I did at LLNL was not limited to the L&D field. I was part of a team that brings in popular authors and speakers. Some of the authors we've hosted include Andy Weir (The Martian), Tommy Orange (There, There), John Elder Robison (Switched On), Michelle Tam (Nom Nom Paleo), Dave Dravecky (SF Giants), Shane Bitney Crone (Bridegroom), Jeanne Marie Laskas (Concussion), and Hugh Howey (Molly Fyde Saga and Wool series). The Author Speaker team was awarded LLNL's Director's Award for Diversity and Inclusion for the work done in support of D&I.I enjoyed supporting LLNL's STEM outreach programs by volunteering at local school science and technology events. I also "dabble" in social media by supporting one of our local high school's athletic programs. When I need downtime, you can usually find me in my garden where peace and beauty prevail.
