Professor Key Pousttchi is one of the pioneers of mobile business in Germany. He works on digitalization in research and practice for 25 years and in IT more than 30. From 1989 to 2001, he served as a panzer officer in the German army, later changing his tanks for positions in military IT consulting and as a computer science researcher at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich.In 2001, he changed career to academia and soon became internationally renowned especially for research on mobile payments and on digital business processes from 2003 on, receiving his first award for academic excellence 2004 in New York. From 2001 to 2014, he was heading a research group on mobile business at the University of Augsburg (assistant professor 2004, associate professor 2009).Since 2009, he was researching the impact of tech players such as GAFA and FinTech as well as the impact of big data and artificial intelligence on real world industries. In 2015 he became the first chaired professor for digitalization at a German university (SAP Endowed Chair of Business Informatics and Digitalization, University of Potsdam) and 2017 introduced the first German Master of Science program in Business Informatics and Digital Transformation, with an interdisciplinary approach, in co-operation with the Hasso Plattner Institute and with consistently more than 40% women among his students.In 2020, he left the University of Potsdam and published his 15th book, the first one for the general public: "The deluded society - why nobody tells us the truth about digitalization". In 2022 he founded the wi-mobile Institute for Digital Transformation, in order to help traditional enterprises (especially SME) to find their way to the digital world with a digital engineering approach including processes, value networks, business models and customer access. In a second step, the institute offers digital education, from university-level CDO courses to general understanding of the digital world for pupils, students and job holders in general.Since spring 2022, he lives and works in the historical city of Naumburg/Saale, two hours south of Berlin, just in sight of its world heritage cathedral. His everyday inspiration are walks through the wineyards and to the castles of Saaleck and Rudelsburg.
