Following on from increased webinar and website activity, ACAUS added an eLearning portal and in September 2020 launched an on-line IQEX course to help members prepare to take the IQEX exam, which enables Chartered Accountants and Canadian CPAs to sit a single exam to qualify as US CPAs. In addition added the ability for members to sign up for and take AICPA CPE eligible classes. We have continued to run CPE eligible webinars and are planning a virtual conference for November 2020.

Following the departure of our former executive director, David stepped down from the Board to take on the executive director role, as we geared up for our first ACAUS conference on April 25th 2019 in New York. Role also includes working with the executive team on strategy and formulating an overall business plan for ACAUS, in conjunction with our key stakeholders and partners.

Stepped down as president after completing 3 year term. Continuing on the ACAUS Board for 2 years to support the incoming president and provide continuity. Working with the President to agree priorities and contribute as needed. Initially to continue our focus on 'current and future skills' and strategy for ACAUS members, given the range of technology based solutions that are now creating significant opportunities for our profession. Resigned from the Board in March 2019 to take on the Executive Director position (part time) for ACAUS., alongside being conference chair for our first conference - to be held in New York on 25th April 2019. Continued in this role as we started to build out and implement our strategy. This led to several new initiatives including working more closely with our home institutes, updating our member management system (Salesforce / best of breed) and implementing in Match 2020 a new website https://acaus.org Alongside this supporting in person events and restarting online webinars in February 2020. This positioned us well when covid-19 arrived in March 2020 to switch to on-line activities. With the suspension of most in person events we could focus on webinars and having accreditation from NASBA for group live CPE events, we added group internet in May 2020.

Several events were run jointly with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).• Presented on technology / assisted in workshops with several IFAC committees.• Updated our website www.acaus.org, and increased activity using social media and online meetings. This included starting a webinar series which kicked off in February 2018 with a focus on technology / current and future skills for accountants.

Examples:• Led requirements review and overall design for a Financial Consolidation and reporting system at a major distribution company headquartered in Jamaica. Reduced close cycle and made month/year end process more efficient, resulting in reduced cycle time, improved reporting and tighter control. • Conducted predictive analytics ‘proof of concept’ with a global hospitality company working with an IBM Research algorithm. Worked in the Americas Services Organization, under the 'Office of Finance'. Cognos was acquired by IBM in 2008.• Recruited to build and run a services field practice for North America for the Controller financial consolidation software product. Financial consolidation and reporting (legal, management, compliance), covering small/midsize companies while scaling to fit large multinationals with complex requirements. Built the team to 10 direct staff plus multiple 3rd party consultants, with a focus on staff utilization and profitability.

• Accountable for business development activities geared to launching a new card payment processing software product. The company was also a Business partner of Exact software and implemented its software internally. Resold Merchant Services solutions and offered specialist IT consulting - mainly for Hospitality, Banking and Financial companies.

Led a major corporate capital initiative for Starwood. • Project managed the Global Revenue Management System project with a budget of $30M, focusing on reducing reliance on contractors, recruiting a team of full time support and development staff, building clear relationships with stakeholders, and being the single point of contact for escalation and issue resolution, resulting in the creation of a stable support group with 24/7 systems support coverage. • Managed technical teams to develop and support 100 web-based shopping bots (RPA) for revenue management applications, and managed relationships with internal stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and outsourced activities.

Moved from Brussels to Denver CO, to be JDE's worldwide Process Owner for Accounting, Fiscal and Statutory reporting. This was part of a global process re-engineering and best practices initiative. Accomplishments included the facilitation of current state workshops for global finance staff, implementation of quick wins and the creation of a corporate vision document. This also included streamlining the production of key statutory reports, for each country JD Edwards did business in directly. In addition, led training efforts for project team staff, using the OneWorld application software, and prepared a detailed project plan for the implementation of OneWorld. Also attended supply chain management (SCM) training, and established a commodity management function for procurement, focusing on professional services. This resulted in direct savings of $300K.

Led on implementing common back office accounting and consolidation/reporting systems in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Responsible for 17 countries and a budget of over $1million. The project was a success. Also took an active role in vendor user groups, resulting in increased efficiencies and cost savings by discussing and sharing solutions with other clients. Led on a review to select an alternate accounting system for countries where it was not practical to implement JDE Financials. On promotion to the position of Director – Hotel Systems, led a team dedicated to specifying standards, recommending common hotel systems in the EMEA region. Was the overall program manager for all implementations at owned, franchised and managed hotels. These included projects such as interfaces, electronic credit card processing and yield management implementations. Worked closely with the business teams and other IT groups, as well as managing key customer and vendor relationships.
