I came to teaching later in life from the fast-paced, deadline-driven world of product development, and everywhere I looked, I saw the same thing: teachers working far harder than necessary. Tweaking presentations, answering one more email, constantly watching the clock, and feeling that familiar pang of guilt as they realised their loved ones would be upset because they were late — again.We know this isn’t how we want to work, yet we're stuck. ‘Well-being policies’ and check-ins might exist, but let’s be honest — they don’t work. Knowing what to do is pointless without a concrete plan and the accountability to step away.I knew better, yet I fell into the same trap, worried I’d seem less committed if I didn’t match my colleagues' work patterns. My "Aha!" moment came when a friend, a life coach, asked, “Who’s telling you to work on your days off?” I had to admit: "Nobody." Then she asked, “What would happen if you left your laptop at school?” That was the hard truth — I was choosing this relentless pattern. I needed to set boundaries and stick to them.Around this time, AI was being hailed as revolutionary in schools. I helped others apply these ideas, but I saw a problem: the tools weren’t solving the real issue. Teachers were just working faster, still putting in late hours. The missing piece was changing work habits. Without that, no tool could fix the underlying problem.That’s why I created PPA Buddy. I wanted a solution that combined smart, intuitive systems with genuine support to help teachers shift their work habits. Sure, AI tools existed, but they didn’t address the root cause: how we approached work. I wanted fast, intuitive resources paired with accountability to help break free from overwork.With my experience in teaching and product development, PPA Buddy became more than just teaching resources — it’s a movement. It’s about offering fast, easy-to-use tools alongside real support for habit change and building a supportive community.
