    In conjunction with my work at Voxtel, I collaborate with professor George Nazin investigating the electronic states of quantum dots using scanning tunneling spectroscopy. Due to unique instrument capabilities we are able to observe spatially localized energy states on quantum dot surfaces as well as correlate these states to optoelectronic device performance. Our improved understanding of quantum confined materials will allow for rapid progress of industrially relevant materials systems.

    I lead synthetic efforts of semiconducting nanocrystals (quantum dots) for application in optoelectronic devices and stand-off detection technology. In addition to synthesizing quantum dots with desired properties, I have played a pivotal role in reaching company goals by developing a deeper understanding of device operation and prototyping devices that will be cheaper and more effective than currently available technology. Collaborations with my vast network in the field of nanomaterials has enabled rapid progress towards project goals as I continue to probe for better solutions to the problems we are trying to solve. In addiitiona to my technical contributions, I have been a driver in recruiting and hiring key personnel as well as interns. My energy, enthusiasm, and eye for safety has resulted in improved moral among team members and a heightened awareness to the safety culture.As a project leader, I have successfully transitioned a $150k Phase I SBIR effort into a $750k Phase II award by delivering novel semiconductor interconnect technology. I was responsible for documenting our findings in reports, making presentations for the funding agency, and technical input on proposals for further funding. In addition, I manage a $1M phase II SBIR project utilizing quantum dots coupled with biochemical detection methods to develop highly sensitive and selective detection of chemical and biological warfare agents. Along with chemical synthesis, my role as manager of this project spans all aspects including budgeting, work distribution, and communicating with the funding agency.
