Paul and his wife ,Betty and their daughter Katie are the creators of the Health and Well Being business, originally known as Logans Beach Spa and Fitness.The business is located at their original family residence at 7 Logans Beach Road, Warrnambool where they raised there 4 children Chris, Leigh Joel and Katie. Built in 1983 the property is situated on 3 acres and just 400 meters from the pristine Logans Beach Whale Nursery. Logans Beach is the birthing and winter home for the magnificent Southern Right Whales and their new born calves.The business has evolved rapidly since its inception in 2000, from 5 star accommodation, personal fitness training and massage to be now one of Australia's leading boutique day spas providing, massage, beauty treatments and natural therapy. It's tenants now include the highly acclaimed Splash Factory who are specialists in providing swimming lessons for all ages, special needs and Aqua classes The complex now has Yoga classes and considering adding Reformer Pilates to its menu.Accommodation is provided in the "Loft at Logans" and is ideal for couples seeking to relax and rejuvenate in the self contained suite and spa and enjoy the surrounds and the sound of the southern oceanThe facility provides well being services to many local private and business clients. In 2012 Paul formed a vibrant and innovative partnership with Bedri Sainovski and together they successfully built Think Insurance into one of Australia's leading Risk Insurance Advisory businesses. In October 2020 to broaden their offer to meet the needs of their clients they made the decision to merge with the dynamic financial services business , Blue Rock Private Wealth. As part of the merge all of the Think team transferred across and remain happily entrenched at Blue Rock. Paul to assist in the transition elected to work on a 6 month contract until April 2021. His main role was to assist in the transition of the merge with Blue Rock PW and with the wonderful assistance of both teams this has now been very much completed.Many of Think Insurance clients were referred by Marsh , the worlds largest Insurance broker and also through Bedri and Paul's their vast contacts and networks.Paul has been advising as a business insurance risk specialist and since 2017 has combined the role as the Responsible Manager for the Marsh Retail life Liscence.

Paul and David Patterson (CPA) formed S4BG to plug a gap in the market in advising and designing planned and unplanned insurance exit strategies for small to medium businesses including business valuations, buy sell and shareholders agreements and planning for growth and development.Our clients included sole traders, husband and wife businesses, family generational businesses, business partnerships and property syndicates.To maximise our exposure to a wider market we needed to be in Melbourne and this was working well.David ,who is still Paul's accountant today, was mainly Warrnambool based and having a young family it was becoming difficult to meet the Melbourne requirements so we agreed and decided to change our direction. David formed Silvan Ridge Business Advisers in Warrnambool and Paul became a founding partner with Bedri Sainovski and Allan Johnson at Think Insurance and based in MelbourneThe time with S4BG provided a significant learning curve for Paul in the positioning of business insurance and he still uses many of the skills gained and processes formed through this time in his insurance journey.

Bob Barham and Mike Raselli and Paul were the founding partnersof Silvan Ridge Financial Services, established in Warrnamboolin 1988.Since then Silvan Ridge Financial Services has been one of the leading practices at AXA Australia, formerly National Mutual. The business is currently licensed through AMP.During the journey the business diversified into General Insurance and Mortgage Broking but has always predominately been a Financial Planning and Risk Insurance business and has expanded into Melbourne and Geelong.The practice has prided itself on providing quality advice and building long term client relationships.Paul's key role as a planner at Silvan Ridge was to provide business insurance to business owners and their key people as set up, service and give advice on Corporate Superannuation.With the experience gained from years of meeting with hundreds of business owners from a variety of backgrounds and diverse industries and on hearing their frustrations, Paul recognised that there was a consistent void in providing proper advice to help owners in the vital areas of cash flow, growth, how to value their business and how to develop a retirement exit strategy or in effect a complete succession plan.In 2008 Paul made the hard decision to exit Silvan Ridge to persue his passion of providing succession planning to business owners.Paul believed that to be effective in succession planning it had to be a separate entity that dealt exclusively in that area.This was made easier by the fact that Silvan Ridge as a businesshad been pro active with its exit strategies and had succession planned younger partners into the business. This made for a smooth exit for Paul as the business valuation had been pre agreed and agreements were in place to ensure a smooth transition.

Paul joined AMP in Melbourne at the very young age of 21, firstly as a Life Insurance Agent and then as a Manager of a team of agents.In 1974 his management duties took him to the regional city of Warrnambool where he enjoyed the country lifestyle, its people and the business and sporting opportunities that it gave.In 1975 Paul was transferred with AMP back to Melbourne. In late 1977 the opportunity arose to move back to the country and invest in a business called the Warrnambool Roller Bowl. This was the start of Paul's journey into business and by accident succession planning as he entered a partnership with his friend, Robert Gass and two senior partners, Lyndsay Hill and John Holland.For the next ten years the business grew to add Mini Golf and then Roller Skating and Indoor Cricket to complement Ten Pin Bowling and Pinball machines.It gave Paul the chance to experience the trials and tribulations of operating a 7 day week entertainment business that opened from 9.00 a.m. until 11.00 p.m. and catered for both locals and tourists. Working in a 4 person partnership with a range of ages and interests, accelerated Paul's understanding of the give and take required to maintain a successful business partnership.In 1986 John Holland exited the business and then Lyndsay Hill and Paul exited in 1988 leaving Robert Gass to continue the business.This was all achieved by using commonsense, good communication and by making each partner aware of their best intentions when it came to exiting the business. We are all still good friends today.During this time(1986 -1988) Paul's other business interest, Aussie Health became an Achilles heel financially and created a very trying time and deepened Paul's resolve to learn how to take the good with the bad and to put strategies and disciplines in place to avoid it happening again in the future.
