Resulted in key 4th Circuit opinion affirming a preliminary injunction preventing the Air Force from separating Airmen with HIV, and a landmark summary judgment opinion and permanent injunction (1) preventing the military from enforcing categorical bans against the deployment of people with HIV; (2) requiring the military to consider commission applications from enlisted service members without regard to HIV status; and (3) precluding the involuntary separation of service members living with HIV.
