- Studied one dimensional finite element for derivation of bar stiffness matrix, heat transfer and fluid mechanics problems, and derivation of beam stiffness matrix. Used COMSOL to observe temperature distribution of 1D thermal problem. - Studied shape functions of one- dimensional and two-dimensional elements and used COMSOL for analyzing different stress components of beam problems- Studied plane stress problem starting on mathematical and physical assumptions, stress and strains, elasticity equations and potential energy formulations. Used COMSOL to design bracket for stress- Studied thermal finite element starting on mathematical and physical assumptions, derivation of heat flow equation, FEA formulation for heat conduction, and thermal boundary conditions. Used COMSOL to thermal design of epidural thermal posterior annulplasty device - Derived Navier-Stoke equations and studied computational fluid dynamics solutions using finite difference method, finite volume method, and finite element method for incompressible fluid flow- Final Project: simulating electrical stimulation of Heart-on-Chip device on COMSOL by showing the deflection of PDMS membrane caused by difference of electrical potential, and simulating the blood flow of our device on COMSOL with determination of the medium’s velocity and showing the diffusion of isoproterenol (a cardiac drug treatment for bradycardia) on the device

- designed primers for cloning DNA guanosine transglycolase in pET-30a to pET-28a using molecular biology software application named SnapGene, and conducted the cloning experiments.- purified the DNA guanosine transglycolase from Salmonella Montevideo using differential centrifugation, Ni-NTA affinity chromatography and gel filtration techniques.- performed various mechanical machines: Microfluidizer cell lysis-system for bacterial cells, Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography, Nanodrop UV-Vis spectrophotometer, TTPLabtech Mosquito liquid handling robot and Rock Imager by Formulatrix-performed protein crystallization at nanoscale and microscale- set up 96-well sitting drop plates with various conditions using crystallographic robotic liquid handling- set up 24-well sitting drop plates to manual crystallize the enzyme DNA guanosine transglycolase using the vapor diffusion method.
