We firmly believe that as patients, we will be treated better if the people responsible for our care feel appreciated, valued and recognised for their work, in what is a very difficult and demanding area of healthcare provision. We do believe there is a perfect MH service out there, just not all in one place. We will be able to identify, disseminate and reward positive practice through the awards.PPiMH Collaborative is a multi-disciplinary working group, guided by a larger external reference group, who together will provide a comprehensive guide to positive practice in MH, from the moment of engagement until discharge and all routes in between - a complete patient journey, informed by representatives of every profession throughout MH service delivery, and of course, the users of services and their carers, to provide what many MH commissioners are calling out for, clear concise information about what is working in MH. To ensure consistency every service considered for inclusion in the comprehensive guide will be visited by Tony & Angie Russell, who both manage the project and co-ordinate the activities of the members including facilitating all meetings and learning sets.Part of the Collaborative’s work is facilitating PPiMH learning sets based on the practice discovered through the awards process, nominated by the Trusts themselves and then verified through visits and the working group. This concept has been embraced with enthusiasm with two events having already taken place, many more being planned.The Collaborative is an excellent way of instant networking across a community of like-minded people, who share with us a commitment to better mental health care.
