Co-FounderBikematch Nov 2020 - Sep 2023Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, DeWith a sense of urgency fueled by the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, we launched bikematch. Our initial offering was a mobile repair service for bicycles and e-bikes, accessible through a custom-designed app. Customers could book repairs at fixed prices, choosing the location and time that suited them best. The demand for bike services was soaring, and people were facing weeks-long waits for workshop appointments. We aimed to change that narrative.However, we soon encountered a new challenge: The scarcity of skilled mechanics. This led us to pivot our business model. Today, bikematch serves as a hands-on academy addressing the acute shortage of skilled labor in German bike workshops. We offer compact courses that quickly qualify individuals for employment in bike repair shops. The icing on the cake? Our courses are eligible for educational vouchers from the German Employment Agency.At bikematch, I was able to blend my passion for mobility and education. I built a business model from the ground up, executed a successful pivot, and gained invaluable experience in fundraising.Though I've since stepped away from bikematch to focus on horyzn.io, the lessons and experiences I gained there continue to shape my professional journey to this day. -
