One of my early brushes with a crisis came in 1985-86 when I was entrusted with the task of exporting 150 containers of brown basmati rice From Kandla Port to Dubai in one month. For a fresher, it was a tedious job under intense heat in the "Rann of Kutch".Majorly responsible for clearing the outstanding payments amounting to Rs. 1 crore which was stuck up in various 5-star hotels in India. This involved communication and visits often up to the GM and Director level, apart from hotels’ Purchase, Finance, and Accounts heads.
