I played a crucial role in establishing the Noncommunicable Disease Research stream and was the Head of the Division of Noncommunicable Diseases at ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai, 2016 - 2023. I was the Principal Investigator for the "India Hypertension Control Initiative" (2017-2023), a multi-partner implementation science project implemented in 150+ districts, which received UN Interagency Task Force Award at UNGA 2022, for being a highly impactful program for hypertension within India's primary health care system. I was a member of the Chief Minister's Expert Task Force for COVID-19 control in Tamil Nadu, India, 2020-21. I have been a WHO’s Global Cervical Cancer Elimination Expert group member since 2019. I worked closely with the Public Health Department of Tamil Nadu for over a decade to develop a statewide NCD program and supported Govt. of Punjab for the first pilot project to introduce the HPV vaccine in India in 2016.
