As a news producer with Asian News International (ANI), I head South Asia Newsline, a weekday newscast which provides exclusive coverage of South Asia to the global audiences. The newscast covers India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and other parts of the world which have a strong South Asian diaspora presence.My work involves building news bulletins, handling breaking news, deciding order of news stories to go on air, making news packages with voice-overs, co-coordinating with other departments to make sure all required elements of the news story are in place before it is taken on air.

My job involved reacting to breaking news on a daily basis. I worked together with camera operators and video editors to produce agency-style packages of all genres - including politics, sports and entertainment - which I then edited and scripted to the high standard expected by the Reuters global news agency.
