I successfully scaled the marketplace by onboarding 45 H&L builders and over 800 buyer’s agents. I drove the platform’s expansion through strategic growth initiatives to achieve a targetted monthly recurring revenue (MRR).Leadership in Development: Led a cross-functional team of three to design, build, and launch the platform, leveraging Ruby on Rails 7 with Turbo and Stimulus for optimised performance.

Key Outcomes:Project Leadership in Wholesale Distribution Portal: Spearheaded the development of the first version of a wholesale house and land distribution portal for an aggregator, enhancing an existing stock management system. Financial Accountability and Growth: I held P&L responsibilities for the product. In its first year of operations, the platform generated $700K, demonstrating its market viability and profitability.Technology Implementation: Led a team of three utilising Ruby on Rails to build a modern solution that enhances a legacy stock management system, ensuring faster product delivery.

Application roadmap developed for e-commerce division of one of Australia's largest grocer to support increased consumer demand for online shopping. I did a thorough evaluation of the existing application landscape, taking into account architectural, technical and commercial considerations. A future roadmap was developed with a corresponding implementation plan.

Held responsibility for executing strategies and managing operations for both retail and online projects. Prioritised team health as a critical element of successful execution in a high-pressure & volatile environment, strongly focusing on enhancing team engagement and fostering a collaborative work environment. I managed a team of eight, utilising Angular and React to develop tab.com.au and the Forms Terminal.Key Outcomes:Pioneering Retail Project: Directed my team in launching the innovative Forms Terminal for clubs and pubs, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and user experience. This project resulted in deploying scalable Android terminals supported by a robust, hyper-scalable architecture utilising React over legacy APIs.Website Upgrade Success: Oversaw the relaunch of tab.com.au in 2015, explicitly directing the team responsible for the racing section of the web application, significantly improving functionality and user engagement.

Specialising in Agile processes and software engineering practices (Clients – Suncorp, Woolworths, ISIS AP, Greater)Process and technology assessments – Lead consultant in assessment assignments, E.g. an assessment at Greater Building Society where I paired with a Principal Consultant to provide a health-check for a $20M IT project, aimed at replacing the bank’s core-banking platform. The result was an assessment of process and technology, and a holistic evaluation of risks, discussed with the CRO and CIO, for an ambitious project, with minimal feedback from users in branches. I was in a team of four, in an assessment at ISIS AP, an M&A deal maker, attempting to provide a strategic direction to a breakthrough endeavour to build a collaboration platform for large ($50M+) M&A deals. The result was a holistic evaluation of risks, a go-no-go assessment, and an estimation of costs. Iteration Management – handle flow management of development tasks in software development teams. E.g. an assignment at Woolworths-Caltex where a ThoughtWorks team developed a couple of mobile apps. The project needed extensive stakeholder management in the fuel, IT and change management groups in the firm. Technical leadership – architecture guidance, and advice towards making development fit-for-purpose for small, cohesive cross-functional teams. My experience provided a holistic perspective on incubation of differentiators for businesses. E.g., Suncorp Life wanted to extend its online Life insurance platform to Independent Financial Advisers in NZ. I provided technical direction and facilitated work breakdown for cost estimations. I worked with three developers to start up the project, set up patterns of development, bedding down engineering practices to follow.

Senior Consultant (2009-2012) (Clients – Suncorp, Macquarie Bank, Telstra, Westpac, Lonely Planet, Australian Wealth Management, GetUp!, REA)Technical leadership - mentored client teams on ‘Agile’ (Lean software development) engineering practices helping manage risk in IT-as-a-differentiator projects.Process and technology assessments – Technology lead in teams of process and technology consultants providing assessments of current systems. E.g. an engagement at Macquarie Bank to evaluate a division’s technology strategy, with a view to be agile with software delivery. The result was an assessment of current state, a future state and a road map, to enable a focus on cycle-time reduction. A technology assessment at Australian Wealth Management provided the CIO with strategic direction to focus IT efforts. An assessment at Real Estate Australia (REA) provided the CIO office with similar data. REA revaluated its technology strategy and today runs 13 websites around the world, with most ranked first in their respective markets. Consultant (2007-2009) (Clients – Suncorp, Macquarie Bank)I ‘paired’ with client developers to build systems and mentor developers on ‘Agile’ engineering practices. E.g. an engagement at Macquarie Bank where a co-source team built a funds management systems for a large managed fund.

Assisted the Director of Media Operation in recruiting and setting up the process control development team in Singapore. A collection of interdependent factory information systems the team handled has featured in ‘Intelligent Enterprise’ and helped the manufacturer win the Intelligent 20 Award.As a developer, I was instrumental in creating a factory information system for the Seagate shop floors. I was also instrumental in building the Time and Attendance system for Seagate’s factories in SE Asia.
