Merchant Interfaces team.- Built a new product as Technical Lead that re-architected the entire Affirm loan lifecycle. Led a cross functional team to implement atomic transactions, API backwards compatibility, notification webhooks, 100% automated P0 integration test coverage, and load testing.- Implemented Affirm’s first public & idempotent API for file upload, and fully automated the manual customer disputes process as Technical Lead for the new Disputes API. Onboarding mentor for a new full-time engineer to deliver on one endpoint within the broader project.- Re-architected our SFTP system and handled all custom loan data as Technical Lead for two separate projects to launch settlements for Amazon and Stripe, which now serve over 20% of Affirm’s settlement traffic.- Internationalized the idempotency service, a core artifact that serves 100% of Affirm’s merchant-facing API traffic, by creating a highly detailed service dependency diagram.- Designed a solution via database sharding and response pagination to fix API inconsistencies on one of our critical APIs. Helped our team’s summer intern to execute this project to completion.- Created a majority of the team’s documentation which allowed for easier ramp-up of oncall engineers. Proactively scoped and implemented newer technologies which brought unit test coverage to over 90%, fully automated the critical integration tests, and created the team’s first data integration alerts.

External Pedagogy — Infrastructure team.Projects: Otter Grader, Data Science Education Program External Resources Portal, Data 8X Telemetry.- Led the product development of Otter Grader from MVP design to beta. Otter was adopted in 3 courses of varying sizes at UC Berkeley (Data 88, Data 100, IEOR 135), and in universities across USA (UCSB, UCSD, UMD, CCSF).- Increased the number of engineering projects from 1 to 7, and conducted interviews to hire the founding engineering and product teams to staff all 7 projects — growing the original team by over 2X within 6 months. Personally mentored 2 new product managers to ramp them up.- Wrote a paper on designing education tools for undergraduate data science pedagogy at scale, and presented the paper at the UC Tech Conference in November 2020 at UCLA.

Worked at UC Berkeley College of Chemistry in Professor Alivisatos' nanochemistry lab.Project: using neural networks and active reinforcement learning to perform auto-binarization of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) nanoparticle images.

Programming for Privacy team.- Built social media inference exercises in Python using the Facebook Graph API to scrape information about a fictional Facebook persona.- Developed practical programming lessons integrating programming and privacy for a high school and collegiate target audience.
