Lead Diagnostics Engineer position on several Sun workstation and server products.Entailed supervising and leading a team of Sun engineers in developing hardware bring-up diagnostic software for engineering, writing debug diagnostics for Manufacturing and module level fault isolation for Customer service and customers.Served as an Acting Program Manager with a team of 8 people on a Fiber Optic Communications project for Sun’s server products.Wrote diagnostics for various other products, namely an extended graphics card for Sun desktops and a RAID array product for Sun servers.Tested, Qualified and helped debug Third Party Hardware for compatibility with Sun hardware and made sure that it met Sun’s Diagnostic requirements for robust operation and Fault isolation to the Module level.Programming in C and Forth languages under Unix and OBP operating systems.Involved extensive communication with Manufacturing, Customer service and at times, Customers.Had full responsibility for maintaining Source control on all developed software and release of same to Manufacturing and subsequent follow up to ensure the proper testing and fault isolation on all related Sun products from Engineering Bring-Up thru Manufacturing and debugging and Fault Isolation at Customer sites.

Responsible for porting and rewriting a Telecommunications application package from Vrtx to the MTEX Operating System. This project included solving platform related issues and co-ordinating between various off-site consultants and hardware/software vendors. The software was developed on an IBM PC platform, utilizing the Borland IDE development environment. This effort included a fair amount of redesign of the original package and debugging pre-Alpha site code.

Architected an automated test and diagnostics plan to define test fixtures, improve hardware testability and add fault isolation for the entire line of Eaton Ion beam Implantation products. Served in a project lead capacity, Designed and lead the implementation of a Generic Test Fixture project. Spearheaded efforts to develop guided mode recovery and automated fault identification and recovery for Eaton's Ion Beam Implanters. Modified and debugged file driven programs, written in C. These programs executed in a client/server environment on three platforms, under UNIX on the SUN workstations, under VxWorks on Motorola 68020 based VME bus boards, and under Vrtx on Eaton's proprietary hardware. Communications were in SDLC and Ethernet.

Responsible for porting the AMD 29K monitor package written in C and assembly languages to CGX hardware.Designed and wrote diagnostics in Micro-code, C and assembly languages for CGX's 29K based high resolution 2D graphics terminals and Motorola 68010 and AMD 2901 based IBM compatible, 3D graphics terminals and workstations. Communications were in SDLC, over the VMEbus, PC-AT compatible backplane and NEC, G-bus. Responsibilities included the following tasks. Performing testability studies on new hardware designs and making recommendations for design changes to improve fault isolation. Provided diagnostics and design verification tests for the hardware engineers during the design and debug phases of the projects, designed, tested and released Power-Up, Built-In Tests for Customer Service and the implementation of Manufacturing diagnostics for Go-NoGo testing as well as for fault isolation to the component level.

Responsible for Built In Tests and On Line diagnostics for various products such as an 8086 based IBM compatible portable computer, an 80186 based laser printer, an 8086 based document scanner, and a 68000 based "Fast" laser printer.
