I initially started my career in public practise as a qualified accountant with a small 2 partner firm. Having gained sufficient exposure to a wide range of client I progressed by joining a larger firm where I had exposure to auditing of medium sized limited companies.My next move was to join Neville Russell where I was promoted to audit manager, and I was responsible for some of the firms larger clients in various sectors including charities, haulage, property and self employed tradesmen. I soon gained a reputation as a hands on accountant who was willing and able to think outside the box and provide clients with value added services.After a total of 5-6 years in public practice I decided the time was right to move out of practise. As a result I joined Mellon Bank in 1999 as a fund accountant looking after retail funds for some well known companies. I was there just over 2 year in which time I was promoted to team leader responsible for a team of 4 people. I then spent a short spell working for a larger third party administration company where I was a supervisor and responsible for the fund accounting function for some of the organisations most high profile clients.I soon realised that I did not want to spend the rest of my career working in third party administration as I felt I had a lot more to offer in terms of business knowledge and was able to secure a position at Investec Asset Management in Aug 2001, and I have been there since in many senior finance roles.Specialties: Audit, Financial reporting, Fund accounting, and Management accounting. I also have a keen interest in new technology and keep up to date with latest development in this area.
