It provides an asynchronous, event driven interface to hardware in a vendor independent manner. The project involved implementation of the full standard on Linux platform. Personal responsibility involved leading the team through design from onsite and customer consultancy and communication throughout the project duration. Also developed the Linux USB device drivers needed for the architecture.
