My interest in architecture started in High-school where I took a 4 year design technology course. The course was divided into half manufacturing and half architecture focusing on residential design. We created floorplans and 3D models using AutoCAD and Revit. I was also able to take an art course specifically for architecture, where I learned to hand draw and design floorplans, interior spaces and the exterior of a building. After graduating from High-school, I knew I wanted to follow my interest in architecture and therefore joined the architectural technology co-op program at Sheridan. Through my studies at Sheridan I was able to broaden my understanding of the industry and gain more knowledge about not only the design process, but also detailing, project management, CAD programs, and the OBC. I have also had the opportunity to work in the field through my three work terms. Where I learned first hand about working in the construction industry. I went back to school to get a post graduate certificate in Project Management to enhance my project coordination skills. Through this course I learned about scope management, risk management, scheduling, procurement and cost management. I also got the opportunity to improve my technical skills with Excel, PowerPoint and MSProject.
