With work experience at all the Integrated Steel plants of SAIL (Bokaro Steel plant, Bhilai Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel plant and ISP Burnpur) in various capacities also held senior positions at all the plants. From 2010 held board level positions at SAIL. In 2015 was appointed the Chairman of SAIL, India’s largest steel manufacturing organization, the Maharatna Listed Public Sector Unit under Government of India. In addition was also the Chairman of the International Coal Ventures Private Limited (ICVL) - a joint venture between SAIL, RINL and NMDC for coal mining at international locations like Mozambique. Held the position of President of SRTMI (Steel Research Technology Mission of India) formed under the aegis of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India for encouraging Research and Development in the Iron and Steel sector.
