When I started my e-government software business around 1998 in Mumbai, the then-fledgling industry’s focus was on drumming up business abroad while largely overlooking the Indian Government as a potential customer. A System Integrator of Computer hardware, I adopted a contrarian approach, spotting an opportunity in facilitating “Efficient Citizen Services Delivery” by Government organizations blending Information Technology and Business Process Re-engineering. A Citizen Facilitation Center in the Thane Collector Office named “Setu” took off and became a force to reckon with in the state. Our Market capitalisation and employee strength have grown by an order of magnitude times since we started the e-government business. Our growth has been steep and we have gone from a one-city company to a Pan India company within the short span of a decade. Our customers have been appreciative of our skills and key customers awarded us crucial e-government projects as we competed for them with the Big 4 MNCs and Big 4 Indian IT firms. We acquired our own corporate landmark “ABM House” in Bandra (W), one of the most prized locations in the city. We have bagged several awards from several key international organizations, Central/State governments, Industry specific media publications as well as industry associations. After the acquisition of a cyber security start-up in mid-2017 ABM has made a successful entry into this crucial space with large opportunities to cross-sell and upsell into our strong customer base. ABM today is probably the only company that has state-wide implementation projects in 8 states of India and category leadership in the space of e-Governance. ABM has footprints in 23 states in India. 1300+ Urban Local Bodies and 28+ smart cities are using ABM services across the country. ABM has now invested in a multi-patented Agri-Tech start-up in Silicon Valley USA, with a goal to reach global markets for its offerings.
