About Prakash Sarkar

My Ph.D. research was focused on the Deformation behavior of glassy polymers during nanoindentation. For this work, I selected two types of glassy polymers, i.e., thermoset (SU-8) and thermoplastic (PC and PMMA). The investigation of structural and thermal properties were carried out by FTIR and DSC. The deformation response of these materials studied by performing Nanoindentation experiments with Berkovich tip. All the experiments were carried out at room temperature. In addition, in-situ Picoindentation experiments were conducted to direct visualization of the deformation response. To analyze the residual indent imprint AFM and SPM were done. With this journey of my Ph.D., I have acquired deep knowledge of Nanoindentation theory and applications for soft materials.
